Greetings from 37,000 feet. I am sitting in a chair in the sky.
Also, c
omposing posts on mobile is laborious
. But I can’t use my laptop because the person in front of me put their seat back. Oh well, that’s life in steerage.

Delta? Let me guess some MD-88, or did they retire those?

Delta I assume?

A321. Not sure about Delta’s Mad Dog status.

Yup. A321. My opinion of the A321 is that it is an airplane.

Ah gotcha. I think I flew on an MD-88 this year between ATL and JAX. From GSP to LGA was a CRJ900 both ways.

My next ride to EWR will be a 737-900ER. It will be an interesting comparison.

Don’t believe I’ve flown on one of those yet.

I flew back to DC from Indianapolis in some little jet over the Thanksgiving holiday. I was surprised that the leg room in the little jet was much better than in some of the big, newer jets.
I figure that one day we’ll all be standing up in our jets, holding onto an overh ead plastic strap for balance, jammed in like cattle in the NYC subway. Moo!

This is my first time. Been on a 319 and 320 before. My opinion of the of the A321 is that it is an airplane.

Enjoy ATL! Hopefully not for too long. Haven’t flown on a 737-900, but I like the -800 better than the 321 a little bit.
Safe travels

That’s not as crazy as you think.

Last weekend I had to run to catch my connection coz Delta thinks its ok to have connecting flights at different terminals ata ATL

I will often book flights with extra time between so I can enjoy the airport. Airlines think you want your flights as close together as possible. That’s too stressful for me.

I know when I flew from SVO to TJM, Aeroflot used some Airbus, think it might have been an A320, that was 5 and a bit years ago so I’m not 100% sure.

Done that before, the airport is at least easy to navigate.

Pilots hate the 900. It’s so stretched it’s tail-strike l imited on takeoff and landing angles so they just make it do 160+knots for both. It’s hard on brakes and tires. The F-104 landed at near 200mph, this is getting there. It is a silly plane.

Not retired, I see hear them over BHM every single day. It’s their standard “too many people for a CRJ, but too few for a 737" plane. Which is a big niche for Delta all over the Southeast especially.

Thats true

I just want the cheapest thing and then I complain it has issues #oppolyfe

What kind of irks me is how there is always a way to make your travel life better, if you have the money. Especially at the security checkpoint. Got the money? You can skip the line. I guess I’m just a closet Communist.

I’ve always been a Boeing fanboi, but I’m with you on the 737. It’s a pretty plane, but it’s outlived its design. The NMA is long overdue. Excuse me while I drool as a 757 passes by the window.

Like the majority of passengers at ATL, I’m just passing through. I’m on my way to NYC for a few days of shows and sightseeing with my dad and brother. All his life, my dad has been a world traveler, literally going all over the world. He turns 80 next year, and has been diagnosed with onset Parkinson’s. Not knowing how much more travel he will be able to do, he wanted to take a trip with his two sons. Should be a good time

ATL used to be my home airport, and I used to think that airport was terrible. This was until I actually started traveling a lot more and having to connect.

In general I like the airbus planes, Delta tends to have less leg room than Alaska tho for the same base plane. I have yet to have a ride on an 321 Neo. Basically air bus answer to the 737-Max or vice versa.

I like Indy airport, it small but not really and there is only 1 terminal. Plus they have interesting open wheels or stock cars around the place.

Yeah l, I figured since you mentioned a trip to NYC. Hopefully Atlanta is a very quick stop.
That’s great that you’re taking this trip - enjoy it, and I hope the 3 of you have a great time!

Smaller airports are nice, but it usually means you’re connecting somewhere. I don’t think I ever had a connecting flight until I flew from Corpus Christi to Atlanta.

It struck me today just how appliance-like the A321 is. And I don’t necessarily mean that in a bad way. It is a machine that gets lots of people from one place to another with a (debatably) reasonable amount of comfort. 95% of the people (or more) have no idea whatsoever what kind of plane they are on, nor do they care. To them, it’s just a plane.
Yes, legroom was really tight. Not sure how many pax they had it configured for. But I am looking forward to a direct comparison with the 739, at least as far as interior build quality.

I’m sure we will. Gonna hit some museums, see the 9/11 memorials, which I have never seen. We will be going to an opera at the Met, and seeing To Kill a Mockingbird and Dear Evan Hanson. And, for a dose of holiday kitsch, we’ll catch the Rockettes Christmas show.

Yeah, that looks truly horrible. Of course it would be RyanAir that is looking into it. But wait, there’s more:
These are actual patent filings. That last one looks particularly horrible.

Ugh. My back hurts just looking at those....

Good God, Delta still has 52 MD-88s and 27 MD-90-30s! The are the only operator still flying the 90- 30.
Those planes are old enough to rent a car.

I don’t see how they could reasonably evacuate the last one.
